Epidural Steroid Injection

An epidural steroid injection is a procedure where your back may be numbed, or pain-causing nerves will be blocked. Typically, epidurals are used during childbirth, however it can also be used to treat back pain caused by herniated discs and sciatica.

Everyone has an “epidural”, which actually makes up the space around your spinal cord. It is made up of blood vessels and fat, and protects your nerves and spinal cord.

The procedure is performed under X-ray guidance. It is nonsurgical, and the procedure may last between 10 to 15 minutes. We offer regular and transforaminal epidurals for the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. It is a relatively safe procedure, and you can find yourself going home that same day!
